Our big mistake as a nation is that we abandoned the idea of making products to make money and started treating the money itself as the primary product.
Money became a commodity to be bartered, repackaged, reformatted, bundled, leveraged, arbitraged, greenmailed, derived, and in general shaken back and forth with great energy in the hopes it would magically grow all by itself. and, as long as new suckers, I mean "investors" could be brought in at the bottom, the system seemed to work.
But it was all a giant Ponzi scheme. The only difference between Bernie and the rest of them is that Bernie got caught!
