The IRS's Chief Counsel will leave next month to join Sullivan & Cromwell.
Don Korb, IRS chief counsel for more than 4½ years, will become a partner of the law firm and head of its "tax controversy" practice. The IRS chief counsel's post is one of the most important -- and highly coveted -- tax jobs in Washington. A successor has not been named.
Mr. Korb, who will be based in Washington, says he will join the New York-based firm early next month. A formal announcement is expected soon. ... Mr. Korb, 60 years old, previously had said he would be leaving the IRS before Jan. 20 but hadn't disclosed publicly where he would be going.
