Two centuries of first-degree premeditated murder court trials prove this. Americans plot to murder Americans every single day. Spouses plan to murder spouses, victims of crime plot to take the law into their own hands when the law fails, young people plot to speed up their inheritance, etc.
Parents murder costly and inconvenient children, and people who have committed one crime plot to murder the witnesses. Each and every one of those is promised a trial before a jury before imposition of sentence if found guilty.
