The Federal government owes China one heck of a lot of money

According to the Department of the Treasury/Federal Reserve Board, the United States government owes China $895.2 billion. This debt comes mainly in the form of U.S. Treasury Securities, or bonds. That's a lot of zeroes, any way you slice it. The US government cannot possibly pay this money back.

By goading China into not a trade war, but a "hot" war, IF the US is successful in such a military misadventure, that debt goes away.

A trade war or worse won`t benefit China or the US. In order for America to get out of a recession and ensure global stability, economic not military engagement with China is the answer. Cooler heads need to prevail on both sides of the Pacific Ocean.
