The whole point of a jury is to prevent corrupted judges and over-zealous prosecutors from railroading innocent people into prison or execution for political reasons. But recently, juries are being told what to think and how to decide a case by judges, the same judges which now apparently feel it is appropriate to order defense attorneys to lie to their clients.
Jury Nullification is the principle that juries do have the right to declare anyone innocent of breaking a law if the jury decides the law itself is bad, wrongfully applied, or (as in tax cases) may not even actually exist.
Obviously corrupt judges and over-zealous prosecutors do not want juries to understand the true extent of the power they actually have over the proceedings.
