Dear Glenn Beck: there is a very reasonable anger and outrage expressed in the demonstrations you are seeing, but these protests (except for certain actions of the police) have been generally peaceful.
But this movement isn't about left or right; the old paradigms have ceased to work, Glenn, and you just haven't caught up with that yet.
This movement is giving voice to Americans (me included) who are very concerned about a number of issues.
I am no hater or hurter: I am a sacred choral composer with a strong spiritual bent, a fiscal conservative, yet a social progressive on many issues. And as an entrepreneur, I have a very clear understanding of what a 12 hour work is like.
Glenn, what I have seen happening over the last decade is this country pursuing immoral wars without end, which are not making Americans any safer; a deliberate destruction of the middle class, through offshoring; the impoverishment of people who now cannot make their house payments, getting pushed into abject poverty, and sleeping in homeless camps through no fault of their own.I see a government which is so co-opted by corporate influence that this country now has a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations.
I see the Constitution and Bill of Rights eviscerated by various government agencies and policies, which - again - are not making us one bit more safe.
I notice that you are surrounded on the podium by images of Lincoln. Apparently, your knowledge of US history is so sketchy that you are unaware that Lincoln, rather than bankrupt the North's cause by borrowing from banks to finance the North's pursuit of the civil war, chose have the government print its own money instead.
Glenn, if you cannot see what all of the above has done to the people of this country you allegedly love so much, you have become tone-deaf, and completely blind, to the reality far too many Americans are facing.
That, sir, makes you complicit in everything which is going wrong in this country today; and THAT, sir makes you thoroughly irrelevant.
