The fact is that absent a new World War, the US Government is finished (actually, a new world war will finish the US, but at least DC will go out with a wild party!)
The conventional view in Washington is that nothing revives fanatical patriotism among American taxpayers like a good bloodbath against, well, it doesn't really matter. We are going after this Arabs because Israel said to and because the Germans have been up at bat twice and are sick of being the global whipping boy.
The sad reality is that we cannot stop the next World War because all it takes is the least mentally stable leader to launch one missile and the whole world catches on fire, then the slaves are put back to work rebuilding it all again.
But what we can do and must do is deprive the attacker of the illusion that the intended target for invasion is somehow the villain.
Israel and the US media attempted to blame Turkey for Israel's attack on the aid flotilla in International waters. This is a repeat of the propaganda Bush used when he attacked Iraq, or Hitler used when he attacked Poland; "They made us do it, Mommy!"
