Scott McClellan has already stated that George Bush admitted to him authorizing the leak of Plame's identity as a CIA asset. This was done to discredit the African trip and its report undertaken by Plame's husband, ambassador Joe Wilson.
That report cast doubt on the claim that Iraq was buying yellow cake (processed) uranium ore from Niger. Subsequently, it was revealed that the documents on 2hich that claim was based were forgeries.
An investigation by the Italian parliament accused four men of beint behind the forgery, Ahmad Chalabi , Francis Brookes, Dewey Clarridge, and Michael Ledeen.
