WaMu: ATMs out of cash; holds being placed on all deposits?
I found a picture on this site claiming that Washington Mutual ATMs are out of cash:
And here's someone saying all deposits are having three day holds put on them:
"A colleague just informed me that WaMu has been placing three dayholds on every deposit he's made, and these are simple paycheck deposits that have never been held like that before.
Looks like they're milking every dime that comes through for all they can.............
Here's someone confirming the ATM out-of-cash problem (No confirmation on the source yet):
"Nope not a rumor.
Had to go to two different branches today to get some lunch money outsince I was visiting a client in the area, and I'm trying to burn thelast $500 in the account before they go tit's up.
BOTH atm's had a nice laser printed sign that they were out of money.
At the second branch I decided to go inside to get cash and talk to the teller.
Huge line btw (to be expected) but also a huge line of people accessing their brokerage services and the safety deposit box safe.
She said that they had run out of cash the day before and there was an "armored car foul up" and they didn't get their delivery.
I thought it was an isolated incident, but looks like it's not.
I never thought to snap a cellphone pix of the sign. I'll do that tomorrow when I go by the branch again.
This was the western part of
So far the Debit card works at the hotel still."
"Ok so I just got off the phone with a good friend of mine who is the Manager of a local Wamu in my area(
He said they are also running very low cash as people are coming in left and right closing there accounts.
Closing CD's and taking the hits from them.
They are having the worst time they ever have opening new accounts and acquiring new accounts not that it's surprising.
From the way he made it sound Wamu isn't going to be around much longer and his regional manager was even asking him if he would need help finding another baking position somewhere else if indeed there worst fears come to reality.
I've already closed my account there about 3weeks ago but, he informed me to tell our friends and anyone I know to just get what money you have out of there pronto before it's gone and you either can't get to it or you have to wait weeks to get to what little is left.
That's pretty much the jist of it...hes just a manager so he doesn't know too much but, thats what he told me...........
Take it with a grain of salt just figured I'd share."
